Hello my dear lovely readers. I know I've been hinting that I've been busy with a lot of things. It's in the horizon, so I can't really reveal it yet. It's been a really whirlwind of a few weeks for me, and it hasn't even ended yet! Today is another important day for me as I'll be meeting a few big players in the fashion industry to present to them what aere is about and talk to them about a new collection that I'm working so hard on designing new looks and pieces with my team this past few weeks. Exciting times now!

In between it all, I was invited to appear on the tv show Bella NTV7 two days ago, too. It was about being a fashion blogger and also a little bit about aere. Did you guys catch it?

If not, you guys can watch it at TONTON (link). I was still recovering from flu and coughing, which affected my normal voice. That's why I sounded a little funnier than usual. Anyway, I'll do an update of that later.

Today, I just thought I'd do a quick update before I leave Malaysia tomorrow for a quick getaway. :D I've been asked a lot about my look in my previous post aere Fashion Show 2015 : Part 1.

I wore the aere's white LILIUM Sequinned Cardigan over my gold HEDERA Glister Top and matched it with a white TILIA Sequinned Pants.  I think you can tell that I love the clean white look, but the added subdued sparkle gave the look a little glamorous touch suitable for the occasion.

However, it was also important that whatever I wore was comfortable. I was running around behind the scenes and backstage that night to do the final touches on the models and make sure that everything was right together with the team. The white LILIUM and TILIA didn't affect my movements at all. I purposely made sure that the TILIA has a relaxed, loose cut so it's not too tight. It's releasing today at FV.

Unlike the attention catching sequins on the ZERENE, the sequin shines on the white, black and gold Tilia are deliberately very subtle, so you can wear them even during the day time without it looking too over the top and overpowering your other outfit pieces.  I know I can dress it up or dress it down with this sequinned pants. I guess by now, you would probably already notice that I'm in love with all things sequins and I'm really happy with the Tilia :)

I wore my aere pieces that day with my fav pair of gold heels and a Blurred Lines dUCKscarves. People were saying that, the look is so me that night because of the colours. Hehe. Because it is me! Alhamdulillah it was an amazing night for me and I'm glad I wore a look that made me feel comfortable and confident. (after all the nervousness prior to the show) ;p Photos taken by my brother Raja Nadhil Aqran @naqran @nadhilaqran

Til my next post :)

Getting used to Coffee

I’ll confess up front! I’m not really a coffee type of person. It’s not that I hate it, but it’s exactly the opposite. Just one cup of coffee and I can stay up for the whole day or two. I used to drink a lot of NESCAFÉ coffee to keep myself awake when I was practicing law and had to work day and night surviving on 2-3 hours of sleep daily during that important period to complete the deal.

I’m the total opposite of my husband, who really loves his coffee and always drinks them a few times a day. He’s got to have his coffee or else he’s quite grumpy in the morning, afternoon, evening night.. or until he gets his coffee. But he sure can drink lots and lots of cups a day.

But recently, something surprised me. Even though he knew I’m not much a coffee person and the effect it has on me, he asked me to try the new NESCAFÉ Blend & Brew. He insisted that I give it a try.

And I loved it! This NESCAFÉ Blend & Brew is quite different from the normal NESCAFÉ 3-in-1 that I’ve had before or even other coffees. The coffee is so rich and creamy, with the taste of freshly brewed coffee with milk. They’ve improved their formula and I’ve read here that they are using ingredients such as high quality New Zealand milk and freshly brewed coffee, which is infused by ‘One Step Technology’. The sugar content has also been reduced so that the health conscious can drink it without worrying too much. The NESCAFÉ Blend & Brew has three different flavors: Original, Mild and Rich. It’s the NESCAFÉ Blend & Brew Mild for me, but my husband loves the Rich flavor.

The Mild has a great freshly brewed taste and a wonderful aroma and is just right for me

It’s a great energizer for me, since I’ve been quite busy these past few weeks. I’ve had to juggle so much: working on the recently concluded fashion show, finalizing the new collection and upcoming collections, squeezing media interviews and at the same time working on a top secret project (EXCITED!), there are only so many hours in a day. I’ve had just a few hours sleep each day, so I’ve really needed this new NESCAFÉ Blend & Brew!

I might just get used to coffee!
If you’re a fan of NESCAFÉ, you might want to check out their Facebook, Twitter and Youtube for some exciting news and updates!

Ah!! It's finally good to be able to blog again! I went for a quick getaway to Phuket with my close childhood friend Dr. Sarah last weekend and had a really, really busy week when I came back.

Anyway, kneok and I went to our friend's wedding, Atika Tiks and Olivier at Grand Dorsett Subang at noon today. Will share some photos with the bride and groom together with the lovely peeps here in the blog later k. I wore a dress which I have just purchased this past week.  I couldn't wait till Raya to wear it so I wore it today! :p Love the shade of my favourite colour blue, the ribbon tie at the waist and of course the modern lace at the top back and front. Makes me feel so feminine and as though I'm walking on air. Today was such a sunny and windy day and I loved the effect it had on my dress, when I was taking the OOTDs :)

II am wearing the Tie Front Kurta Dress in Blue from Alia B. But some people at the wedding thought it was a two piece. I actually wanted to purchase the two-piece too but the one in the colour I wanted is already sold out! And actually for this one I'm wearing a size bigger than my normal size (size S) because Size S is also sold out! Alia B's Raya collection is available at FashionValet but I have to tell you, they are selling out really fast!

Alia B. is basically Alia Bastamam's diffusion line. Alia Bastamam is one of few respected Malaysian fashion designers that I find very talented, inspirational and creative. In Silver Lilium Night I mentioned that I went to Alia Bastamam's bridal fashion show at KL Hilton. It was an amazing showcase which I haven't blogged about yet (but I've uploaded a video where I captured the finale of the show on my You Tube account). In 2011, I blogged about the Fashion Showcase of Alia Bastamam & Pu3

This look reminds me of a similar look I wore around the same time last year when I wore a laced raya look but in a different colour. See my post: Laced with Intricacies.

Life has been really really hectic this past couple of months but I really miss blogging and hope to write more soon! So many things happening and so many things to share here. Expect to see more of my writings soon insyaAllah :) Have a great weekend!

Exploring Phuket 1 : Getting Around & the Hotel

Last weekend, I went for a quick getaway with the husband and my bestie/sistah Dr. Sarah and her doctor friends Tasya, Ezaty and Ieja. It was supposed to be Sarah's final vacation before she embarked on her medical specialization.

My last beach getaway was in May 2014 last year when I went to Krabi so I was really looking forward to this trip especially because I've been working like crazy lately and wanted to relax and unwind a little bit.

I practically knew nothing about the trip before going because I was super busy. Sarah sorted out everything, from picking the hotel and preparing the itinerary. So one of the things they decided was to rent a car for the whole trip. It was definitely a new experience for me and the husband. The last time we went to Krabi, our mode of transport was the tuk-tuk, but this time around, we took a seven-seater Ford Fortuner ( I think). Driving around was easier than expected with the help of GPS in the car and clear signage. The husband drove everywhere and it felt like a road trip sometimes and was just really fun. I remember we were laughing so hard trying to find the best radio station to listen to throughout our journey!

So when we arrived at Phuket International Airport, the car rental company picked us up and took us to their office which was just two minutes away from the airport. We signed some papers, and we quickly got our vehicle. Initially, we chose another car. But when we arrived there and saw the Toyota Fortuner available, we immediately changed our minds (we initially wanted to choose a range rover, but that turned out to be their boss' car. hahaha. Not for rent!). We negotiated and got a good price for it too.

So from the car rental office, we took our time to drive to the hotel. We stopped by several shops, and some of us took local simcards, so we went to 7-11 (so many 7-11s there) to top-up our sim cards. It was really nice to have everything at our own relaxed pace as we drove to our hotel Moevenpick in Bang Tao. It's actually the same hotel Khubayb and I stayed in when we were in Madinah earlier this year too.

We were supposed to just drop our bags and straight away go out and explore Phuket but because the place was so calming we just could't leave so we rested for a while. Plus Khubayb didn't sleep the night before because we took the earliest flight and had to reach the airport by 6 am. We took the ERL from KL Sentral to KLIA 2 with Sarah. I planned not to sleep at all too like the husband but in the end I couldn't bear it so I managed to get some sleep for about 2 hours before we left to KL Sentral. Parked our car there and ran like crazy because we almost missed the train by 2 minutes. Haha.

I captured a video as soon as I arrived :)

So anyway, back to the hotel. The place was serene and beautiful. Once we checked in I was in awe of how nice it was. We were greeted with some flowers and a welcome drink. And when we arrived at the reception, the view was so beautiful. We stayed at the hotel with the sea view and there was our own private beach. The view itself was simply breath taking, no pictures in this post can do it any justice.

Because I wasn't involved in the planning process, I was simply stunned at our room. It was the jacuzzi suite and there were 3 rooms altogether which was enough for the 6 of us, a VERRRYY spacious living room and kitchen and a beautiful balcony with a sea view. Wifi was available all around the hotel so that was important for me too. It was perfect! Sarah actually managed to get an offer and we actually paid about half of the original price for the hotel. Definitely a bargain.

Anyway, after resting for a short while and freshening up, we were ready to explore Phuket. We were so hungry because we only had nasi lemak in the plane at 7am so we went to look for lunch at a halal restaurant. The first restaurant we went to (which was situated by the beach) had been closed down for some reason. We went to several other restaurants, but unfortunately they weren't halal. We ended up driving for almost an hour, until we reached one of the best halal restaurants according to the net called Dirham Halal restaurant.

The drive is a bit far, but I must say this restaurant is 100% worth the wait. The food was superb. Because all six of us were hungry, we ordered a lot! I think the staff there were quite surprised because we ordered so much! In the end, they even asked to take pictures of us. Haha! I can't remember what we ordered because everyone was too hungry, but we did order Green Curry Chicken, Mixed Tom Yam, Song Tam, veggies, Lime Steamed Fish (my fav), and a few other dishes. Every dish was really nice and the staff were really friendly too. They gave us free wifi passwords, were very prompt in service and had good English too. We all agreed that we definitely wanted to come back here, but somehow because of our short trip and some change of plans, we didn't manage to come back!

Later that night, we went for some grocery shopping before going to eat at another special restaurant. We had a special theme too but will share more in my next post on Phuket...

Winds of Glad Tidings

They say the wind brings good tidings, and it was so apt that it was such a windy evening when I decided to ask the husband to take this OOTD last night. I initially dressed up for an event which I couldn't attend at the very last minute because of work matters.  Nonetheless, we took some ootd shots under some nice bright lights.

It was supposed to be a pretty glam event. So I wore the LILIUM Sequinned Cardigan over the gold HEDERA Glister top. I love the subtle black shine which to me just exudes an exciting sparkle.

For me, there is no other scarf brand to choose when it comes to a glam night out. dUCkscarves are really the top of my choice. They just have a classy sheen that's unmatched.

That's why I was super excited when I got together with D a few months ago and a collaboration was discussed. It was really a no- brainer, as you can see, I always pair my clothes with dUCkscarves. But I personally feel that there's this chemistry between aere and dUCk. I really look up to dUCkscarves as a model of a successful brand with a great online presence. And when we did our first fashion show together last year (read about it here), I had lots of fun with the dUCkteam and the idea of a collaboration had been planted at the back of my mind.

So now that it's coming to reality, I'm really really excited and pumped up for the collaboration. Its something that's inspired from a long love of mine, and D and I had a really fun time tweaking and choosing on the design and colours.

This look was completed by a skirt that's going to be released from the aere x dUCk collection! (You guys already guessed it right). Im just in love with the skirt, it's already my firm favourite because it can be worn three ways.

So the winds do bring glad tidings. Im sure fans of aere and the hardcore dUCkies will like the collaboration. Ill be writing more about this soon. We're also running a contest so stay tuned to @aere's IG and @duckscarves.

I'm trying not to reveal too much here, but it's just so exciting. Will share more on the blog soon.  :)

I Love to Dress

Hello and salam dear readers. It's been a super busy period this past few weeks. New opportunities, new challenges and a fun learning experience all in all. Yesterday I was at three events: two fashion events and I gave a talk too. All of which I plan to blog about soon. Gosh, it's been quite crazy and hectic and I really want to share as much as I can for the benefit of others and insyaAllah for myself too. It's good to record the things that is happening around us and with ourselves especially when we as a human being sometimes tend to forget.

My goal is to share more and also try and make time to blog more.

I'm also trying to make a conscious effort not to neglect meeting my family. I wore this super comfy and light Imane Dress in Nude and black from the Love to Dress for Fashion Valet collection and paired it with my Paripari Shawl. I love the fit of the dress which makes me feel so comfortable wearing it. It's very light and easy just the way I like it.

I visited my in-laws and we ate tom yam and siakap steamed fish. Secretly I was craving for it because when I tasted the same in Phuket I couldn't stop thinking of it haha.

See Wrapped in Love to Dress and Twirling in Love to Dress for my previous looks from the same label. :)

Hello lovely readers :)

With all the designers getting busy for the Raya season, you're bound to pick up some really good pieces that's perfect for Raya. I confess, despite the very hectic schedule, I'm always on the look out for great pieces that I can wear for Raya and beyond.

I've had my eye on Tsyahmi's sleek white Bainun Kurung ensemble since it launched on Fashion Valet. It's a white and gold combo kurung. The top has a nice little cape at the back and lovely detailing at the front. The original piece also comes with white skants as the bottom. However, I decided to up the glam a little and play more on the white gold theme.

So I paired the Bainun Kurung Top with aere's TILIA Sequinned Pants in Gold. It matched the gold theme perfectly. The Tilia sequinned pants are made of a different type of sequins than the Zerene. It doesn't shine or reflect light as much, but it has just a little bit of subtle shine to stand out without going overboard. It's even suitable to be worn during the day time.

I topped off this look with a gold dUCk scarf. Again, the white gold combo is one of my all-time favourites, it's timeless and elegant appeal really makes you look fresh and somewhat.. pure. Haha. I had quite a lot of fun too deciding what to pair the Bainun Kurung top with, and I'm sure I'll be trying to mix and match more of these Raya pieces in my daily outfits too.

Exploring Phuket 2: All-White at Palm Seafood

So, after our lunch at Dirham Restaurant (read my previous post Exploring Phuket 1 : Getting Around & The Hotel), we stopped by a supermarket to prepare for our plan for the following day: a day trip to Racha Island! Me and the girls bought a lot of stuff as we planned to cook our own breakfast and bring our own lunch with us for the following day. I think I'll share with you what we bought and ate in my post about Racha Island itself. After what was a hectic day, we rested in the hotel room for the evening. I guess both Khubayb and I were a bit tired after that long day, so we slept for a while. But the girls managed to watch the sunset from the jacuzzi at our balcony while both the husband and I had our much needed beauty sleep. (Must admit I was pretty bummed that I didn't get to see the sunset but our bodies needed the rest and I managed to see their photos hehe).

After an hour or so of rest, we got ready for dinner and had a phtoshoot session at our room (at the kitchen living room and all) channelling Desperate Housewives or Gossip Girls. Hehe. (Will probably about that in another post) The dinner was planned by Sarah. She told us before hand that it was the birthday of her good friend and roommate in Russia when the were studying medicine Tasya, so she wanted us to wear something all white. And we did! She also booked dinner at this place called Palm Seafood Restaurant.

L-R : Sarah, Me, Tasya Nasir, Ezaty and Ieja

Birthday girl, Tasya.

So to go with the theme, I wore aere's White Rosea Top and paired it with the aere's Aquila Skirt from the aere x dUCk collection (to be released TOMORROW at Fashion Valet, Modvier and ShoesShoesShoesI wore the KL cityline duckscarf and loved the print of the KL skyline. You know, my hubs always brings his Malaysia football jersey whenever he goes travel and tries to wear it around when he can and I always thought it was funny. But I guess, I can feel a certain sense of Malaysian pride when I wear the KL cityline dUCkscarf to proudly present our country in our own little way. Isn't that right?

Anyway, the restaurant itself wasn't too far from our hotel. But be warned: the road going there is a bit scary.  So if you're planning to check out this place, just trust your GPS, even though at times it looked as if the roads were leading you to nowhere and there was not much light. Luckily, we had my husband Khubayb as our trusted driver and there were a few of us so it wasn't that scary. All the photos were taken by @kneok too. Hehe.

But when we finally arrived there, I was quite shocked. Literally, in the middle of nowhere, there was a jaw-dropping restaurant. The pictures really couldn't do it justice. It was such a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful sea view. The music, the ambiance, the decor fire, it was all just perfect. And we were all dressed in white too which was just perfect for the classy restaurant and classy view. The seats and tables were surrounded by water and fire. It was a unique combination of the elements which refreshed our senses.

The service was good and the waiters all spoke good English and were very attentive. Sarah and I ordered different dishes of lobster: Both were really, really superb! The food portion was just nice. We had a really great time chit-chatting, and I listen to a lot of great doctor stories too. And (what else) we took LOTS of photos too! It was really a restaurant where we took our time : we had our appetizers, enjoyed dinner, shared a little bit of dessert, and stayed on for the soothing jazz music alternating with the calm and peaceful sound of the gentle waves at night almost til closing time. The gentle breeze too was also a plus. We were the last to leave that night.

In short, it was only one day in Phuket and yet it was already a beautiful and relaxing experience that really helped me to unwind. I remember going to sleep eagerly anticipating what we had in store for the following day: The trip to Racha Island! That's a story for another time, though.

Ps : Tonight I'll share a surprise at the blog about aere's launch of a new collection tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Excited mode : ON!!! Finally, the full video is here! And not a second too late too! If you follow my instagram, @aere's instagram and my previous posts here on the blog you would know that some thing big is coming up TOMORROW! (hint: aere's first ever collaboration with the new cool for scarves).

Here's the full video of the highlights captured during the aere EID Fashion Show 2015 presenting the aere x dUCk collection at Royale Chulan KL. I already shared hints of the fashion show, how I felt and a short 15-second video teaser in my post aere Fashion Show 2015 : Part 1, two weeks ago.

I decided to engage a videographer at the very last minute, I think just a day before the show. It was just a crazy super busy period and I thought: hey since there's a lot of hard work put into it by everyone, it would be a waste if the whole show was not recorded and not shared here in my blog. Glad I managed to find the videographer Najmin who agreed to do it at the very last minute and did quite a good job at capturing the feel and mood of the event. He actually recorded a few performance I did with the husband and his band for lawyers events. Even though not everything was captured (even I know that's impossible) but I'm glad he captured most of the highlights of the event. :) I can't wait to see the raw clips too!

Watching the (almost) 3 minutes video makes me smile and makes me relive the entire show that I was probably a little too nervous to enjoy (check out my inadvertent tersasul in the interview: "it turned well"hehe). I was also backstage a lot of the time so I missed out all the interaction between the guests. Looking at it now, I think everything turned out quite alright, right? In the end, everything turned out pretty well. It was a success, all praises to the Creator.

For now, I guess I can leave you snippets of what to expect from the launch tomorrow, 16th June 2015. Do have a look and I hope this video can help you make up your choices on what to get when the aere x dUCk collection comes out tomorrow!

The first release of aere's pieces from the aere x dUCk collection will be released tomorrow online at www.fashionvalet.com/aere, offline at Modvier Bangsar and ShoesShoesShoes Publika and BSC.

Hello and salam dear readers :)

For those of you who are fasting, happy fasting. I'm such in a good mood since yesterday. It must be because it's the first day of Ramadhan today. It's my favourite month in the Islamic calendar because of many many reasons. And it has begun :)

Last night after work the husband and I rushed off to Masjid Wilayah. There were just so many people and we couldn't find parking anywhere so we had to park at the KL Court. I love the feeling. It almost feels like I was in Madinah and Mekkah earlier this year. I felt Love. Last night was my first night with Love entering Ramadhan and I'm on a natural high.

After that we visited one of my aunts who were in the hospital for a major surgery. It was good to also catch up with my cousins and aunt at the hospital. We didn't realise it but we stayed at the hospital for quite a while and we only reached home at 1am.

This morning Khubayb woke me up for sahur and we had a simple sahur together. I decided to wear this all yellow look today to represent my happiness. I felt pretty cheerful when I woke up this morning. I'm wearing aere's LACERTA Top, VELA Skirt and aere x dUCk scarf, all in yellow. All of the pieces I'm wearing today are from aere x dUCk collection. Even my shoes are yellow! It's pastel yellow too, so the colour doesn't overpower the rest of the outfit. The dUCkscarves will be released soon so stay tuned to aere and duckscarves IG (from now onwards) because we also have a surprise for you TOMORROW!

I'm just feeling super excited and happy right now. I'm not always this cheerful! I know, you might have noticed that. But today, I'm just feeling grateful. Thanks to the Almighty, I'm able to reach and experience another Ramadhan. It's a blessing and a gift. So, congratulations to all of us for being able to reach another Ramadhan. All praises to the Creator and the Most Merciful.

Happy Ramadhan everyone. May our deeds be accepted and may we all be blessed with His Love and blessings. Please forgive me if I have ever offend or hurt you in any way. Forgive me. May God forgive us all through our patience and deeds in this blessed month. May the Most Loving and Most Merciful blessed us with physical and spiritual strength and patience throughout this whole month and beyond.

How was your weekend? Hope it is filled with lots of love and some family time :) I spent my Saturday night buka puasa (breaking fast) with my in-laws and last night I was with my parents. With the husband of course. :) I also spent it working during the day and had a photoshoot and interview yesterday with a magazine. Since I started work many many years ago, I've learned that during the fasting month we should be more hardworking and more productive. Fasting is no excuse for us to slack or be lazy. It feels good even though I must admit that my body does act up when I'm too exhausted.

After Khubayb and I came back home from our buka puasa with my parents and brother last night, my father surprised me after midnight and sent me 2 copies of these Mingguan Malaysia because aere's story of the latest aere x dUCk collaboration is in it. My father is the best! (will blog about the fathers day buka puasa for my husband and father soon).

I must also add, some people wonder how can I be so into the arts in all its form, I must mention that most of it came from my dad. He's the biggest influencer in that sense. :) He was the one who brought me to art galleries, concerts and theatres since I was very little. In fact, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be at the art book shop to buy my first Piet Mondrian art book when I was little and I would't have been able to witness Piet Mondrian's paintings when I was just 11 years old. :) So yes, I really have to thank my dad for  unintentionally (or intentionally hehe) influencing me to love the arts, in all its forms.

Anyways, here are photos I captured of the Mingguan Malaysia newspaper this morning. You can read it below.

I just found out that there's another feature in The Sun Daily today too!!! Alhamdulillah. The support from the media is amazing :) Will share about that in the blog soon too.

Just earlier today I blogged about aere's feature in my previous post 'aere in the Sunday News' here on the blog. At the time I was blogging about that post, a dear IG follower @izzaniznadia, my aunt and mum, and my friend Waheeda sent me photos of aere's feature on the Sun today. :) What a good way to start the week. All positive vibes of Monday blues today. All praises to the Almighty.

So, I got myself a copy of the Sun courtesy of Tasya and captured these photos here. I remember I did the same just last year when the Sun featured me while I was in the transition. I was in the middle of switching my career at the time. See The Sun is Shining on Me Today featuring a piece by the Sun titled Unveiling the Vogue published in the Sun on 27th October 2014, just a day before the launch of aere's first collection, Nature of Grace.

I am really so overwhelmed and touched by the write-up and the support by the media towards a local Malaysian label.

Anyway, you still have time to grab a copy of the Sun today :) But, if you couldn't find one, you can read about it below :) If you want to check out the collection, just click 'aere'.

Okay bye, I'm going off to prepare for buka puasa (break fasting) with the husband soon! Till my next post!

Not Everything is Black or White

... there are grey areas too... :) I remember using that phrase to answer a few interviewers when I was still actively practising as a lawyer. There's no absolute right or wrong.

I chose to wear this black, white and grey look for the photoshoot for my interview with Wanita Magazine for their Raya issue. The husband managed to quickly capture these OOTD photos in between me changing the looks and being photographed by the team from the magazine last Sunday, 21st June 2015. Out of all the looks I chose one monochromatic look, this black, white and grey look to represent my background as a practising lawyer for almost 7 years. Reminds me of my earlier days of chambering when I did litigation. I had to wear black and white everyday because lawyers have to wear black and white when we go to court. It was usually a white top and black pants and a black blazer, but different styles. When I didn't do litigation any more I remember I began to wear more colourful outfits but still very subdued and subtle.

When Wanita Magazine first interviewed me in July 2013 (read Feature in Wanita Magazine : Ramadhan Mini Bumper Edition to know more about those days), I was still practising as a lawyer and the interview revolved around my love and passion for the legal practice. That was 2 years ago. How time flies. I intend to share more about my legal career here back then but at that time I couldn't because I was just too crazy busy to even blog frequently. Also, there's the confidentiality issue so I always hesitated to share about work. But now that I've switched careers, I would love to share more here for the benefit of others. If you have any questions on it, do leave a comment below I will be happy to share the answers in a different post :) Anyway, this time around the interview with Wanita revolved around the switch of career that I made from being a lawyer. Will blog more about that insyaAllah.

I wore aere's ARA Top in black and the AQUILA Skirt in black paired with the aere x dUCk scarf from dUCkscarves, all from the aere x dUCk collaboration collection. I don't usually do prints on prints, but that day I felt confident in this print scarf and print top combo.

The print of the aere ARA Top is inspired by Piet Mondrian who is popular with his grid-based colour blocking paintings. As for the AQUILA Structured Pleated skirt, I chose this black one as the lines and structure represents strength and confidence.

I don't usually wear hot pink if you have noticed from my previous look posts but this dress really catches my eye. The minute I saw it on FV's website I knew I got to have it. Plus, it's something that I would want to wear a lot during this Ramadhan. Glad I chose this dress because it's really something I would want to wear again and again. When you dress good, you feel good. The hot pink just gives a strike of confidence and brightens up the whole look. Plus, it's really subtle as it's placed at a small part of the dress.

I love this dress. It's wudhu' friendly (zippers at sleeves), fits nicely and the multi coloured panelling gives a slimming effect! I've just gained one size up recently so that slimming factor really is a plus point! Well done LTD! I've been a fan of Love to Dress since their first collection. Paired the Elysian Dress in Black and Hot Pink from Love to Dress for Fashion Valet with one of my favs instant shawl, Sugarscarf.

I recently blogged about another dress from their Love to Dress for Fashion Valet in my post I LOVE TO DRESS

Ariani Lebaran 2015 Fashion Show

Oh how time flies! We are almost saying goodbye to June already. June has been a really busy month for me. I'm not sure if I had the time to tell you about this one day where I had to attend THREE events in a day.

I had a little dilemma. I was invited to give a talk at the Runway Two Point Zero in Subang (which I hope to blog about later too) at 6.00 p.m, and at the same time I was also invited to my cousin's Pu3 bridal collection at the Ritz Carlton KL which was supposed to start at 7.30 p.m! But then to add to my (good kind of) headache, after saying yes to both of the events above, I received the invitation to Ariani Lebaran 2015 Fashion Show at 3.00 p.m. too. It was an event I couldn't say no to. So I said yes, and somehow I managed to make all three events in the same day!

There was a reason why I couldn't say no to Ariani Lebaran 2015 Fashion Show. Last year, I attended the exclusive preview of Ariani's 2014 collection (read about it here) an extravagant yet very entertaining event with lots of surprises, celebrity appearances and showcasing a collection of lovely scarfs and shawls. This year, the organizers may have just out done themselves. It was certainly a well run show!

Held at the Mandarin Oriental, the set up was really beautiful and elaborately decorated! Big drapes of red and yellow-y orange cloths on the ceiling helped to set the mood. The runway was the main focus this year in the middle of the banquet hall as the guests were seated in rows on either side of the runway. This was a little different from last year where the guests sat at round tables, but it certainly gave the guests a better view of the models as they paraded down the runway. Coincidentally, my outfit for the day matched the colours of Ariani (totally unintentional). I'll share more about my look in another post. (wearing aere's LACERTA and AQUILA Skirt)

I arrived quite early and registered myself. Registration was quite fast. The event was graced by the presence of Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Sultanah Hajah Haminah and other dignitaries such as Toh Puan Datuk Seri Utama Hajah Majimor binti Sharif, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis and started when they arrived.

The event began with a recitation of dua and a speech by Datin Farah Haryani Muhammad Philip, the marketing director of Ariani Textiles. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that this year, Ariani will be venturing into the instant shawl market while at the same time maintaining their quality and focus on lace and Swarovski crystals and emphasis on fashionable pieces. They are also focusing on vibrant and pastel colours as well and they are also launching online at www.arianionline.com. It makes it easier for me to check out their latest collection.

After that, the guests were treated to a delicious array of food before the fashion show started. There was also a performance by Humood Al-Khuder. Honestly, I didn't eat much as I was seated with the fellow bloggers. So, as what we normally tend to do when we sit together, we took photos! There were a few familiar faces: my good friend and travel buddy Shea Rasol, my recent dinner date Namee Roslan, my co-cover girl Fatin Suhana, my sister-in-law blogger Syahira Zakaria and also Tatie Ghafur, Shazwani Hamid, Iza Hamid, Yuyu Zulaikha, and Sabbyprue who were there at last year's ARIANI event too. I also met a few new blogger friends : Ieda and Iena Mansor, the twins. Anyways, since my husband was my driver that day, I had him take this photo of all of us :) (All photos in this post are taken by him except the official photos I mentioned below)

As much as I really wanted to stay and check out all the lovely pieces being showcased, I had to excuse myself a little early before the show ended, because I managed to shift my talk at the Runway Two Point Zero to 5.00 p.m. I think I left just before 4.30 p.m. From Mandarin Oriental to Subang. Did I make it on time? Wait for my next post on that day to find out! In the meantime, check out the official photos from the event below!

Silver URSA

How was your weekend? I had a lovely one spending some quality time with the husband, my parents and my in-laws. In between all that I was busy preparing for aere's latest release today :) aere has released more designs in more colours today at all stockists. Apart from that there's a special promo going on too since Raya is coming up soon :) If you follow aere's IG you would know what's going on hehe.

Anyway, in this post I'm wearing one of aere's designs released today. The URSA Top. I wanted a top that's simple and minimalist, feels exclusive, looks elegant and sophisticated as well as something I can wear with anything and everything in my wardrobe. (Skirts and pants mostly) Other than the fabric and the simplicity of it, my favourite feature of this top is the unique zipper cuffs which gives off a pleated effect when it's partially fastened. (Maybe I'll share in another post) :)

One of the benefits of running my own label is that I get to try on the samples way before it's released for customers to buy. If I'm not happy with it then I won't proceed to produce it but if I'm happy with it then I get to produce it for it to be released. I must say that this URSA Top is something that's fast becoming one of my favourite top. I've worn day and night because it is suitable to be worn for all occasions.

Anyway, in my post Not Everything is Black or White I blogged about the interview and photoshoot for a magazine I did awhile ago. I also shared a different look which I wore on that day. The look I'm sharing  in this post was the first look I wore on that day. I paired aere's URSA with my favourite PYXIS Skirt and aere x dUCk dUCkscarves. I've previously blogged about how the PYXIS is adjustable and can be changed from an A-Line Skirt, to a mermaid or a flared skirt just by adjusting the two sippers at the side. See my post Winds of Glad Tidings to see how I wore the PYXIS in a different colour in a different way.

I wanted to create different looks with the different aere pieces from the current collection and this was what I came up with. A combination of silver gray  white and lavender :) Colours of the aere x dUCk print. Check out aere's webpage to browse the whole collection and see the different colours of the aere x dUCk's print as top, bottoms and dresses.

Till my next post, have a productive Monday and a blessed week!

In the Cosmos

I cannot be more thankful and happier by all the support that I've been receiving so far. Last Monday I blogged about aere's features in Malaysian Newspapers aere in the Sunday News and The Sun on Pastel Dreams and this Monday aere is featured in Kosmo! The feeling is really out of this world. In the cosmos! :D

I started setting up and working on aere in June 2014 last year, and I can't believe that it has been one year. So many exciting things has happened and of course there are many  challenges as well. But, I am truly grateful by all the support that I have from my readers in the blog, on my Instagram, dearest customers, aere's partners and stockists, my team and of course family and friends. It has really been amazing. ALHAMDULILLAH. All praises to the Creator for blessing me with all the blessings.

The reporters from Kosmo were some of the interviewers who were there interviewing me and Vivy Yusof after the after aere's fashion show at the Gaya Koleksi Raya 2015 and I love the writeup by the. It's so accurate and close to everything that we answered on that day. If you want to read or see a video of the fashion show just go to : aere Fashion Show 2015 : Part 1aere Fashion Show Part 2 : Full Video, and White Shine.

I was so surprised that they put a photo of me wearing a full look wearing pieces from  the current aere x dUCk collection on the cover of their Stailo inserts too. Thank you Kosmo! for the cover story on aere x dUCk :) It's a photo the husband kneok took of me as posted in my blog last week Not Everything is Black or White.

I took some photos and scanned it for my own records as well as for you to read if you didn't manage to get a copy. You can also read the one online at Inspirasi Piet Mondrian di aere dan dUCk at Kosmo! Online.

Pink Blocks

Hello and salam dear readers. :) I wasn't a fan of pink when I grew up. My favourite colour has always been blue but pink has slowly grown on me without me realising it. Sometimes, we don't even realise but we slowly fall for a certain colour. The more we say we're not into it, the more we love it! It was people around me who made me realise that I've been wearing a lot of pink recently (even though sometimes I'm still in denial of that fact) Hehe.

Anyways, this is one of the looks I wore for the photoshoot and interview with a magazine recently. They asked me to wear one look which I would wear for raya this year, so I chose to mix and match aere's CARINA Top, the VELA Skirt and the aere x dUCk scarf all in pink. Eventhough the pieces can separately be worn with other pieces to create casual looks or looks to be worn for work. I love it when one piece can be worn with other pieces to create different looks. All we need to do is just be creative :)

Kneok quickly took these shots in between the photoshoot with the magazine that Sunday. You can read about the shoot and see the other looks I wore for the shoot at Silver URSA and  Not Everything is Black or White. I also posted an almost similar one-colour look in yellow at Ray of Sunshine.

Sometimes I feel like I have to pinch myself to make sure that I'm not dreaming. A lot of things have been happening, good things :) and I'm just feeling really super blessed at the moment for all the good response, love and support that aere has been getting since I started to work on it exactly 1 year ago.

I'm also very humbled and grateful by the support by the media so far about aere x dUCk,  aere's first collaboration ever with dUCk scarves. I was still on the high from the reviews and write-up which I recently blogged about in my posts In the Cosmos (Kosmo!), The Sun on Pastel Dreams (the Sun) and aere in the Sunday News (Mingguan Malaysia). And I found out just before buka puasa yesterday that aere is featured in the Star newspaper.

I was happy that the Star featured aere together with other Malaysian labels/designers I respect, look up to and adore. I am really tempted to get that blue raya outfit by Innai Red. It's gorgeous! You can read the article below.

Thank you so so much to the editors and writers and everyone involved to write about and feature aere :)

All praises to the Almighty. Alhamdulillah.

Dreams Do Change : WW Magazine Feature

I must have been so busy that I totally forgot that I haven't shared about this feature with WW Magazine! I've intended to blog about it when it came out but a month has actually passed by. Time flies extremely fast this 2015, don't you think? I cannot even describe how busy I have been this past year. In a good way of course :) Busy is good.

Anyways, my interview with WW Magazine (Wanita & Wawasan) was featured in their May  2015 issue. They asked me about how I started to get involved with the fashion industry, whether I've actually dreamt about running my own fashion label since I was little, the bonuses and challenges of being in the fashion industry, my inspirations, how I define my personal style and a few other questions. You can read the answers in the article which I've scanned and shared here, below :)

I love doing interviews because sometimes it makes me look back at what I'm doing  at the time through a different perspective. Sometimes, when we are just so busy, we don't even realise the bigger picture. But, when someone asks you questions, you start to pause and reflect on what you're doing or have been striving to achieve. It's put everything back into perspective.

They also featured photos from aere's Nature of Grace collection and the Blossoming of Grace collection featuring my dear friends Ruzana Ibrahim and Lisa Surihani (See my post : Behind the Blossoming : Part 1 on the fun shoot we did together)

They featured aere in the interview they did with me as well as a fashion feature in another section titled career woman in action. You can read the full interview below. :)

Till my next post.
